Judy Giering

Biography

Judith Giering is the Director of Learning Design & Technology in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Virginia, where she is responsible for providing leadership and direction to College faculty and administrators on issues related to course design and learning technologies. She advocates for the exploration, testing and adoption of innovative pedagogies and research-based practices, and consults with faculty in the design and re-design of their courses. Prior to her current appointment as Director of Technology Strategies, Judith was Associate Director of Online Learning and Instructional Design at Drexel University, where she also taught graduate courses as an adjunct in their Master of Learning Technologies program and e-Learning Leadership certificate program. Judith holds a B.A. in History from St. Joseph's University, and an M.S. in Information Systems and Ph.D. in Education from Drexel University. Her research interests include new models of instructional design, interaction in online learning, faculty adoption of new technologies and accessibility in online learning.
