Judith Paras Kaul

Biography

Paras Kaul came to George Mason University as an Assistant Professor in a graduate program in Electronic Visualization at Mississippi State University in June 2000. Prior to that time, she was a Lecturer at California State University, Los Angeles, during which time she also lectured at UCLA and UC Santa Barbara. Having completed BA degrees in English and art, and MA course requirements in photography, Paras received an MFA in computer graphics and animation at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1983. As Mason's Coordinator of Electronic Publications, she is also a member of the university's Web Team and Technology Council, which committees determine current and future directions for technology at the university. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor in the Art and Visual Technology Department at George Mason. She is Vice President of the Mac Users Group on campus, a member of the DC Chapter of American Composers Forum, and a member of the Foresight Institute. Paras is also a neural artist, researcher, and brain wave music composer, who works with a brain wave interface to the computer and has performed in venues at the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Lost Angeles Convention Center (SIGGRAPH), and other locations in the country.
