Julie Buehler

Biography

Julie Buehler is the Vice Chancellor for Information Services & Strategy & CIO at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Working with campus administration, individual colleges and faculty governance bodies, Julie plans and implements campus information and electronic communication strategy including academic, research and administrative computing. Julie previously served as the Deputy CIO at the University of Rochester, where she held broad responsibilities for establishing institution-wide technology vision and for building collaborative relationships, overseeing compliance efforts and providing leadership to strategic planning initiatives for research computing, web modernization, information security, identity management and administrative systems. From 2009-12, she co-chaired the budgets and planning working group for the start-up of the Health Sciences Center for Computational Innovation, a $100 million supercomputing research initiative with the University of Rochester, IBM and the state of New York. She has a passion for mentoring and organizational development. Julie is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Simon School at the University of Rochester. Julie was an American Council on Education Fellow in 2010-11.
