Karen Anderson Lain

Biography

Dr. Karen Anderson Lain (Ph.D., Communication Studies, University of Kansas) is Director of Academic Services at Academic Partnerships. Prior to joining AP, Dr. Anderson Lain was an Assistant Professor and Coordinator for Program Assessment in the Communication Studies Department at the University of North Texas (UNT). While at UNT, Dr. Anderson Lain was awarded $26,000 in grants and fellowships for her work in online and blended learning. Dr. Anderson Lain has published two peer-reviewed journal articles and a digital textbook as well as presented thirty peer-reviewed conference presentations on pedagogy and communication. Dr. Anderson Lain is an award winning instructor with five teaching awards including the Pioneer Award for innovation in online learning from the Center for Distributed Learning at UNT. Dr. Anderson Lain’s 15 years of teaching experience in higher education includes face-to-face, online, and blended learning environments. Dr. Anderson Lain was elected to Faculty Senate and to Chair the Departmental Executive Committee. Additionally, Dr. Anderson Lain served on the University wide committees including: University Curriculum, Transformative Instruction Initiative, Faculty Collaborative, and Quality Enhancement Plan Assessment (assessment plan for SACS accreditation).
