Karen Peters
Biography
With more than 30 years of executive‑level experience in learning design, performance improvement, and organizational development across corporate, government, and academic sectors, I bring deep expertise in identifying emerging learning and performance needs and translating them into measurable, business‑aligned solutions. My background includes extensive consultation with senior leaders, faculty, and global business partners to diagnose capability gaps and design learning strategies that drive performance outcomes. As noted in my vita, I have been “responsible for the design, development, assessment and management of learning activities related to Sales Onboarding and employee technology training updates” (Microsoft Global Learning), demonstrating long‑standing strength in needs analysis and strategic alignment.
I have led large‑scale learning and change initiatives, including enterprise technology implementations, curriculum redesign, and global assessment strategies. My work consistently integrates research‑based learning theory, leadership development principles, and user‑centered design. At the University of Phoenix, for example, I “led a 2+ year Change Management Project… responsible for assessments, risk mitigation, communication plans, reporting, and success metrics,” reflecting my ability to partner across divisions and influence organizational outcomes.
My experience includes designing and implementing award‑winning learning programs (Brandon Hall Gold and Bronze), developing global certification pathways, and partnering with analytics teams to build measurement strategies that demonstrate learning impact on performance and business results. I have collaborated with business intelligence groups to create learning‑specific reporting, and I have repeatedly built assessment frameworks that reduce time‑to‑competency, improve quality, and increase learner engagement.
A skilled facilitator in virtual, asynchronous, and in‑person environments, I have taught master’s‑level courses in learning theory, instructional strategy, evaluation of learning systems, and online education. My facilitation experience spans corporate sellers, university faculty, law school administrators, and global technical teams. I design learner‑centric experiences grounded in UX/CX principles, ensuring clarity, relevance, and transfer of learning.
Throughout my career, I have partnered with senior leaders, HR and talent organizations, and cross‑functional stakeholders to prioritize learning needs, align solutions to business strategy, and ensure a cohesive colleague experience. My work with Microsoft, Penn State, ASU, and the University of Phoenix demonstrates a consistent ability to build strong relationships, influence decision‑making, and deliver learning solutions that measurably improve performance.
