Biography
Karla Berry, Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, is an experienced professor, administrator, and media artist committed to realizing best practices for digital learning environments in the flat world of the 21st century. She is interested in the convergence of learning science, design thinking, collaboration, and technology. Current and previous academic-corporate partnerships include Youtopia, Pearson Learning, McGraw Hill, Avid Technologies, Centre International de Liaison des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Télévision (CILECT), Panasonic, and the New Media Institute. She has served as President of the University Film and Video Association (UFVA), and of the International Digital Media & Arts Association (iDMAa). Recent corporate/academic collaborative sponsored projects include the South Carolina Film Consortium, the AIDS PPSA Project, and the Global Rivers Project. Berrys documentary, educational, and interactive media projects have been created for small personal screens such as smart phones, for conventional screens such as broadcast or cinema, and for large public screens in the US and abroad.EDUCAUSE Presentations
