Kathy Austin

Biography

Kathy earned her BBA from Texas Tech University in 1987 and moved to Virginia, where she took at position in the MIS/Material Management department at the University of Virginia. She negotiated site licenses, negotiated hardware contracts, and led a programming team. She was lured away by big blue and became an IBM Educational Support Specialist, working with educators in the Virginia area. Tired of the commutes and lifestyle of the east coast, she moved back to Lubbock and took a position with Texas Tech University, Small Business Development Center, in 1992. After four years of community training and LAN management, she took a promotion with the TLTC, where she spent over seven years. Kathy completed a doctorate in Experimental Psychology in May 2005. Her areas of specialization include interface design, achievement motivation, intelligence, and statistical design. Kathy is currently the Assistant Vice President for Information Technology Division, where she is integrally involved with assessment, customer support, usability, education, academic computing facilities, and IT management at Texas Tech University.
