Kelsey Corlett-Rivera

Biography

I completed my undergraduate studies in Romance Languages at Harvard University in 2005, which led to a 5 year career as a project manager in the Language Services industry, and later, after obtaining my Masters in Library Science in 2012, a return to academia as a subject-specialist librarian for Foreign Languages at the University of Maryland. In 2014, I was promoted to Head of the newly formed Research Commons. In that role, I am responsible for the majority of the University Libraries' initiatives targeting faculty members, graduate students, and researchers on campus. This includes campus partnership building, program development, and space planning, along with coordination among internal Library divisions providing services to this population. The partnership referenced in this proposal was one of the first (and most successful) developed during my leadership of the Research Commons, in part because I have been able to leverage my previous experience as a project manager to achieve project goals in an efficient and effective manner. I have extensive experience teaching students and training colleagues as a librarian, and also have presented at a number of conferences such as the Association of College and Research Libraries and the American Translators Association.
