Kevin Abbott is a Lead Teaching, Learning, and Technology Consultant for the Learning Platforms group in the Office of Information Technologies and is associated with the Kaneb Center for Teaching and Learning at the University of Notre Dame. He works closely with faculty to choose and implement technology to enhance teaching and learning. Recent projects include automation of business simulations using Google Forms and Google Sheets, creating the LMS architecture for a 2,000 student first year studies course, and leading digitial publishing faculty pilots. He has taught many information technology and educational technology graduate and undergraduate courses for Bethel College and the Michigan State University College of Education. Kevin earned his B.A. in Computer Science from Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana, and his M.S. in Administration from the University of Notre Dame. Prior to Notre Dame, for ten years, he managed all the administrative and training functions for Whirlpool's Global Information Technologies group. He also worked for Bethel College for three years as the Business Office Director and for a CPA firm prior to that.
A first-year experience course at the University of Notre Dame offered the opportunity to develop and test a next generation digital learning environment based on the five dimensions described in an EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative report.
