Biography

Kieran Ayton is the Emerging Technologies Librarian at Rhode Island College.  He has a solid background in emerging technologies, reference, and instruction. He is proficient in web development, LibGuides, Wordpress, and Adobe Creative Suite. He is passionate about improving the user experience through outreach, engagement, and assessment.  He collaborates with library IT Departments to manage and implement all technology aspects in the library, including updating public desktop and laptop computers and designing technology lending programs. He troubleshoots staff computer issues. He has spearheaded multiple website usability studies which worked with RIC students, faculty, and staff to gain data for library website redesigns. He has built websites in LibGuides CMS using Bootstrap, HTML, and CSS. Kieran also teaches research instruction and is the library liaison to the School of Business, School of Education, and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs.  Kieran co-manages various aspects of Worldshare Management Services integrated library system and discovery tool, including collection inventory.
