Kristen Brown

Biography

Kristen Brown is Associate Director for Online Learning and Technology at the University of Louisville. She holds a B.A. in English from Miami University and is earning a Master of Education (Ed.M.) in Adult and Higher Education from Oregon State University. In 2013, Kristen completed the Institute for Emerging Leadership in Online Learning from Penn State University and the Online Learning Consortium. Kristen began working in the field of online education in 2001 at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she served as Assistant Director for Online and Continuing Education for over eight years. She joined UofL in 2009 and has served as Associate Director for Online Learning since July 2011. From July 2021 - January 2023, Kristen also served as Interim Provost for Online Learning & Technology. Kristen and her team have helped UofL grow enrollment to over 2,800 online students in approximately 60 online programs. In 2017, Kristen earned the University of Louisville Outstanding Performance Award, and in 2016, she received an award from Public Agenda in recognition of her work as the leader of the Competency-Based Education Network’s Student Services workgroup. Under Kristen’s leadership, her team has received several awards from national online learning associations – UPCEA and C-BEN for excellence in marketing, and WCET for policy/compliance work.
