Kristin Hanks

Biography

Kristin Hanks is a fourth year doctoral student in Informatics. She has a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Baylor University and a master's degree in Human Computer Interaction Design from Indiana University. In addition, Kristin has eight years of experience working in university computing, including five years as an Operations Coordinator at IU's University Information Technology Services. Her dissertation research focuses on the role of technology in helping us change to more sustainable behaviors. Kristin served as an intern with the Sustainability Task Force where she documented existing IT practices and created a set of recommendations to reduce the environmental impact of computing on campus. Most recently, as the Sustainable Computing Graduate Assistant at IU's University Information Technology Services, Kristin coordinated an electronic wasted collection event and a print reduction campaign. She is now involved in a desktop computing energy reduction pilot project.
