Biography

Kumiko received her Ph.D. in Communication and Information Sciences from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Before joining the National Institute of Multimedia Education in Japan, she was a faculty member at the Department of Information Technology, Rochester Institute of Technology, for 3 years and at the College of Communication, Boston University for 5.5 years. Her research interests include quality assurance and benchmarking of e-learning, the use of ICT for intercultural collaborative learning, learning design, and pedagogy in distance education.
