Biography
Larry is currently Vice President and Chief Information Officer at CSU's Sacramento State University, where he's responsible for all aspects of information technology. The application of information technology to enhancement of the teaching and learning process has been a consistent interest over a thirty year career. Areas of special interest and experience include learning space design and utilization, data analytics, business process analysis, and effective student and faculty use of technology. Prior to coming to Sacramento State in 2007, Larry was Director of Academic Technology & User Services at Western Washington University. From 1984 to 1998, he was Director of Teaching and Learning Technologies at the University of Nevada, Reno. He started his career in IT as Director of Educational Media Services at the College of William and Mary (his alma mater) from 1978 to 1984. Larry grew up in New Jersey near Philadelphia. He received a B.A.with honors from the College of William and Mary and both Ed.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University. When he has time to pursue research interests he’s particularly interested in classroom use of technology, learning interactivity, learner analytics, and cognitive learning strategies. His service within Educause includes serving on the 2010-2011 Core Data Service redesign team, where he focused on development of the recently introduced student technology and teaching and learning modules.EDUCAUSE Presentations
