Larry Richards

Biography

Larry Richards is Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Indiana University East, where he serves the roles of chief academic officer, chief enrollment officer and chief information officer. In particular, he leads strategic planning exercises for the campus. He previously held positions as Founding Chair of the Department of Engineering Management at Old Dominion University in Virginia and Founding Dean of the School of Management and Aviation Science at Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts. He is a past president of the American Society for Engineering Management, where he was elected a Fellow in 2002, and of the American Society for Cybernetics, where he was awarded the Norbert Wiener Gold Medal in 2007. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maine, an M.S. in Aeronautical Systems from the University of West Florida, an M.B.A. from Mississippi State University, and a Ph.D. in Operations Research from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. His research interests include policy support systems, the integration of cognitive and quantitative approaches to decision making, and the cybernetics of social systems design.
