Leonia Houston is an instructional learning designer with more than 16 years of experience in higher education, specializing in instructional design, learning technology, curriculum development, and faculty support. She currently supports graduate education at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, where she partners with faculty and academic leadership to design and improve graduate-level courses in clinical investigations and applied biomedical data science.
Her work spans course and curriculum development, learning management systems, faculty development, assessment design, accessibility and inclusive learning, and the strategic use of educational technology. She has led the development and launch of new graduate courses and programs, supported accreditation initiatives, and helped faculty translate complex disciplinary content into effective learning experiences.
Leonia holds an MBA from the University of Memphis and an MS in Instructional Technology from Mississippi State University. Her professional interests include innovative approaches to instructional design, AI and the student experience, faculty development, learning analytics, and the thoughtful integration of technology into higher education.
