Linda O'Brien

Biography

As Pro Vice Chancellor Linda is a member of the University executive, Head of Logan Campus and University Librarian. As the Head of the Logan Campus Linda plays a leadership role in building the University’s capacity to respond to community needs, and in strengthening the profile of the Logan campus and the University in the region. As University Librarian Linda has responsibility for the University’s library including supporting the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) in relation to the University’s learning and teaching strategy as it relates to the library.

Linda has a Master of Public Administration, a Graduate Diploma in Library, Information Science, a Bachelor of Education and a Corporate Directors Diploma. Her experience in senior university management is broad, having worked in six Australian universities in a variety of roles, including Pro Vice Chancellor (Information Services) at Griffith, Vice Principal Information at the University of Melbourne and Vice President (University Services) at the University of Newcastle.

Linda has published and presented both nationally and internationally, and contributed to a number of state and national initiatives. Currently Linda represents Australia on the ORCID Board, non-profit global research infrastructure organisation; a Director of the Queensland Cyber Infrastructure Foundation; a Director of Infoxchange; Chair of the Board of the Open Data Institute Australia and a member of the Queensland Public Records Review Committee.
