As President of Thorburn Associates, Ms. Thorburn is a firm believer in freely sharing technical expertise to help increase knowledge within the industry. She co-founded the company eighteen years ago from her garage, over-looking the San Francisco Bay.
Ms. Thorburn sought to fulfill the need for expertise in the fields of audiovisual and acoustical design. Inspired by ever-changing technology, she expanded the company to address technological and presentation lighting designs. The company has since grown to include branch offices in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina and Los Angeles, California areas.
Ms. Thorburn project manages teams for all kinds of venues: libraries, churches, senior centers, amusement parks, hospitals, child development centers, zoos—anything that has to do with sound and vision. In addition, she regularly presents on acoustical and technology issues at industry events and for lunch and learns.
In her downtime, Ms. Thorburn enjoys teaching T’ai Chi Chih, searching for hand-blown glass and reading.
