Lori Berquam

Biography

Lori Berquam received a BSE in Mathematics and Psychology from Truman State University, a Master's of Science from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Educations Leadership and Policy Analysis at UW-Madison. Lori has worked for over 15 years in university housing at various institutions including UW-Madison, UW-Whitewater, UW-La Crosse, James Madison University, and UCLA.

At UW-Madison, Lori became an Assistant Dean of Students in 2002, an Associate Dean of Students in 2003, and was named Dean of Students in February 2007 after serving as Dean of Students in an interim capacity for a year and a half. As Dean, Lori oversees a division of over 70 professional staff from ten reporting units. The units of the Offices of the Dean of Students (ODOS) are: Associated Students of Madison staff and programs, the Greater University Tutoring Service (GUTS), International Student Services, the LGBT Campus Center, the McBurney Disability Resource Center, the Multicultural Student Center, Orientation and New Student Programs, Student Advocacy and Judicial Affairs, the Student Organization Office, and Vets for Vets.

All of the units of the Offices of the Dean of Students are united by a shared commitment to cultivating, advancing and interconnecting the academic, professional, personal and social development of students; and championing a respectful, globally engaged and diverse university community. Under Lori’s leadership, ODOS strives to be the campus leader in inspiring students to live the Wisconsin Idea. Lori is committed to social justice, is a strong and passionate student advocate, and is dedicated to building strong relationships both on and off campus.
