Lowa Mwilambwe

Biography

Lowa Mwilambwe currently serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary, Health & Wellbeing at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a position he has held since June 2016.   In this role, he oversees the following departments: Illini Union, McKinley Health Center, Camps Recreation, Counseling Center, University Housing, Parking and the State Farm Center (co-managed with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics).  He also chairs the Student Fee Advisory Committee and the Repair and Replacement review process for all auxiliary departments on the Urbana-Champaign campus.  

Lowa Mwilambwe joined the University of Illinois in 2012 as Director of the Illini Union.  Prior to coming to University of Illinois, he served as the Director of the University Center at the University of Texas at San Antonio for 8 years. He held a number of positions at Illinois State University including the Director of the Bone Student Center/Braden Auditorium, and in University Housing, as an Area Coordinator, Special Projects Assistant and Residence Hall Coordinator.  He has been an active member in ACUI, NACAS, NASPA and other professional organizations. 

Mr. Mwilambwe holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from Western Illinois University, and a Master’s in Economics from Illinois State University.
