Biography
Lynne O’Brien is Associate Vice Provost for Digital and Online Education Initiatives at Duke University. She works with faculty and university leaders to plan experiments with new online teaching and learning strategies and encourages their appropriate integration into campus teaching. Currently, she is leading Duke’s activities in developing Massive Open Online Courses and exploring ways to incorporate online activities into campus courses. O’Brien was the founder and director of Duke’s Center for Instructional Technology. Formerly a faculty member at Brown University, O’Brien has organized conferences on academic computing, taught courses in educational software design, planned technology-enhanced classrooms, reviewed proposals for the National Institutes of Health and served on accreditation teams for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Her interests include strategic planning for libraries and for academic technology, open access and open source educational materials and mobile learning. She holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Delaware.EDUCAUSE Presentations
