After receiving my Bachelor of Science in Integrated Language Arts (7-12) Education, I taught high school English for a number of years and obtained my Master of Arts in English with an Emphasis in Education before making the change to the higher education world. While it is vastly different than my public K-12 background, working at Tiffin University as part of the Center for Online and Extended Learning has only deepened my commitment to the ever-changing landscape of education and the significant role it plays in our society.
When Tiffin University decided to integrate artificial intelligence tools directly into its courses and curriculum, the Center for Online and Extended Learning implemented the use of design statements on written assignments. This short-term intervention is the first step in a long-term effort to ensure students learn to use AI tools ethically and responsibly.
