Marin Stanek

Biography

Marin Stanek retired from the University of Colorado Boulder in summer 2026. She was the CIO and vice chancellor of IT for 5 plus years. 

Stanek provided strategic leadership to ensure that CU Boulder’s IT priorities and investments are focused on enhancing the student experience and supporting research competitiveness, while being vigilant towards creating IT efficiencies to avoid the proliferation of functionally-redundant technology​, systems and processes through shared core IT infrastructure and enterprise services. 

Stanek oversaw the Office of Information Technology (OIT) while working closely with the schools and colleges to set strategic direction and coordinate IT infrastructure and service delivery. She reported to the executive vice chancellor and chief operating officer and was a member of the University Executive Leadership Team. 

She was committed to transparency and clarity through IT governance and building strong relationships with academic, administrative and student leaders. 

Stanek has a BA in International Political Economics from Colorado College and a MA and PhD in Higher Education Administration and Leadership, with emphasis on emerging educational technology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her postdoc leadership training includes a Harvard Law negotiation program, the Stanford University Innovative Technology Leader program and the Institute for Management and Leadership from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
