Biography
Mark Adams retired from Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer for Sam Houston State University in August of 2021. Mark served as CIO for SHSU from 2006 to 2021, and has over 30 years experience in the higher education technology industry. In addition to institution wide technology oversight, Mark has served as a communication lead for campus emergency operations team 2005-2021 and provided training for the Texas Emergency Management Conference. Mark's experience spans infrastructure, ERP systems, information security, project management, customer service, construction and higher education administration. Mark served on the TASSCC board and as chair of the Texas Connection Consortium board. Mark has been active with Educause serving multiple years as a mentor in the Hawkins Leadership Roundtable and participating on the Educause IT Issues panel. Mark is a founding member of the Texas Lonestar Educational and Research Network (LEARN) and has served on the Technical Advisory Group, the Board, numerous committees and was chair elect in 2021.
Mark believes strongly in the value of collaboration and tries to demonstrate this through seeking opportunities to bring together diverse groups to maximize data inputs and perspectives for successful outcomes.
