
Mark Cianca
Biography
Mark Cianca serves in concurrent roles for the University of California as Interim Vice President and Chief Information Officer, and Associate Vice President, Operational Services.
In the CIO role, he is responsible for championing the work of over 8000 information technology professionals across all UC locations. Focal areas include diversity, equity and inclusion in the IT workforce, cybersecurity management of UC data assets, and promoting IT best practices systemwide in our COVID-19 response.
As Associate Vice President of Operational Services, Cianca champions the University’s strategic priorities for business efficiencies and for expanding shared systems and services to manage administrative costs. Mark assumed leadership of the UCPath business transformation initiative in 2013 and in June concluded this historic rollout to all UC campuses and medical centers.
Mark has a strong history of delivering results for Student Affairs, IT, and business operations across his 34-year tenure at UC in both campus (UCSB and UCSC) and systemwide roles. He brings an innovative spirit and collaborative, common-sense approach to his leadership. He is a thought leader and active partner with UC locations as the university explores common service opportunities to drive business efficiencies.
