Marlin Waldron

Biography

Marlin Waldron is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in Communications and Information Technology, having served both in the U.S. Navy and in civilian roles.

Navy Career (1991-2021):

Marlin served 30 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. His career highlights include leadership positions in communications and IT across various commands, including deployments with Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and Naval Special Warfare Development Group (NSWDG). He played a pivotal role in executive communications, serving as the lead communicator for senior military leadership during operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. His distinguished service earned him numerous awards, including the Bronze Star and multiple Defense Meritorious Service Medals.

VA Medical Center (2022-2023):

After retiring from the Navy, Marlin transitioned to the Department of Veterans Affairs, where he served as the End User Operations Area Manager at Albany Stratton VA Medical Center. In this role, he oversaw end-user technology operations and service delivery.

Director of Client Services, Naval Postgraduate School (2023 - Present):

Currently, Marlin is the Director of Client Services at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). He leads the Endpoint Lifecycle Replacement Plan, managing technology refresh programs and the Windows 11 migration. He also oversees the Technology Assistance Center (TAC), which supports all audiovisual systems in classrooms, auditoriums, and executive offices. Marlin is responsible for the Classified Computing environment, which includes all endpoints, classroom setups, servers, routers, and switches. Additionally, he manages all educational software and provides support to research teams by assisting with equipment setup, ensuring smooth technology integration for both teaching and research purposes.

As the Director of Client Services at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), I oversee the Endpoint Lifecycle Replacement Plan, Windows 11 migration, Technology Assistance Center (TAC), Classified Computing environment, and all audiovisual systems supporting educational and research missions. My role involves ensuring the seamless integration of technology in classrooms, auditoriums, and research labs, as well as managing cutting-edge educational software and supporting research teams with their equipment needs.

Attending EDUCAUSE 2024 will allow me to gain insight into emerging technologies, best practices, and innovations in IT that directly align with my responsibilities. I will be able to explore new tools and solutions that can enhance endpoint management, improve audiovisual setups, and streamline support processes across NPS. Furthermore, the conference offers valuable networking opportunities with peers in higher education IT, helping me learn from their experiences in managing similar environments. This exposure will enable me to further optimize operations within NPS, ensuring that our technology infrastructure continues to support both academic and research excellence.
