Mary Dickerson

Biography

Mary Dickerson is Chief Information Security Officer for the University of Houston and the University of Houston System. As CISO, she is responsible for strategic planning and implementation of information security practices, encompassing a range of activities from compliance to technical forensics. Ms. Dickerson has a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and an MBA from the University of Houston, Bauer College of Business. She holds a variety of industry certifications including: CISSP, CISM and PMP as well as active professional memberships in Educause, InfraGard, (ISC)2 , ISACA, ISSA, PMI, and REN-ISAC. A 20-year member of the Nassau Bay Volunteer Fire Department, Mary is also an Accredited Basic Firefighter for the State of Texas. Ms. Dickerson served as Chair of the Texas Cybersecurity, Education and Economic Development Council (TCEEDC) originally established in 2011 by Texas Senate Bill 988 and is currently serving as Vice-Chair of its successor, the Texas Cybersecurity Council. She has served on the DHS Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee (DPIAC), the FBI InfraGard Houston Chapter Board of Directors and the Texas CISO Council Leadership Team, as well as other information security advisory committees and boards.
