Mary Somerville
Biography
Dr. Mary M. Somerville serves as University Librarian for University of the Pacific Libraries in Sacramento, San Francisco, and Stockton, California, USA. Her leadership approach combines participatory design and action research to create workplace learning systems, professional information practices, and activity based spaces. Information sharing and knowledge creation activities foster informed action and interactive evaluation that further using information to learn. Guiding theory and best practices for Informed Systems leadership, collaborative evidence processes, and facilities space redesign are described in Informed Systems: Organizational Design for Learning in Action, published in 2015 by Chandos Press, a subsidiary of Elsevier. Dr. Somerville also serves as Adjunct Professor in the School of Information Systems, in the Science and Engineering Faculty, at Queensland University of Technology, in Brisbane, Australia.EDUCAUSE Presentations
