Biography

Matthew Brophy is an associate professor of philosophy at High Point University, where he teaches technology ethics and global moral leadership. His work lies at the intersection of moral philosophy, artificial intelligence, and higher education.

He has developed and tested the Triadic Learning Ecosystem, a pedagogical architecture for structuring collaboration among teachers, students, and course-specific AI teaching assistants. His current work explores AI-integrated classroom design, scaffolded learning, real-time formative feedback, human-AI collaboration, and the ethical responsibilities of institutions adopting emerging technologies.

Brophy has published peer-reviewed research on AI alignment in Ethics and Information Technology, and his writing on AI and higher education has appeared in The Chronicle of Higher Education and Inside Higher Ed. His work is also forthcoming in EDUCAUSE Review. He is particularly interested in AI’s potential to reduce barriers for students with disabilities and underrecognized learning differences.
