Biography

I am Manager of the Systems Team for the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University, and I have been at NU for almost 3 1/2 years. My team of Systems Administrators manages all of the physical and virtual infrastructure for the College, including private and public cloud-based servers, and provides desktop management and support to the College's roughly 700 faculty and 500 staff. I have worked in information technology for over twenty years, more than half of them in higher education environments. Over that time, he has served in a diverse range of roles, from support, systems, and network administration to development, documentation, and project management. I have designed, deployed, and supported information systems for a diverse range of audiences including firefighters, librarians, professional associations, as well as university faculty, staff, and students. I co-founded the SysIT system administrator's group at Northwestern. The group provides a community for Systems Administrators on campus, and a venue for the sharing of ideas and initiatives. The goal of the group is to increasing collaboration and community among sys admins at Northwestern, and when appropriate to reduce duplication of effort. I am an active participant in campus collaboration and IT governance, and I currently serve Chair of the University's Communication and Collaboration Advisory Committee. I chaired the Virtual Application Working Group, and led the architecture of the NUworkspace virtual desktop environment. From spring 2014 to fall 2015, my team and I migrated the College's file storage and sharing services from on promise services to Northwestern'x Box implementation. I am a February, 2014 graduate of the EDUCAUSE Institute Management Program, and I recently became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. I am credited as a sound engineer on multiple web series and short films.
