Maya Ott

Biography

Maya Ott has been serving as the Assistant Director of the Center for Teaching and Scholarly Excellence at Suffolk University since March 2020. Before joining Suffolk, Maya served as an instruction­al designer in the College of Online Education at Johnson & Wales University for three years. In 2016, Maya completed her Ed.D. in Human Development and Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her research interests focus on the interplay between college students’ aca­demic and personal development, the social and psychological dimensions of teaching and learning in higher education, and the rise of non-tenure-track faculty. Her 14 years of profes­sional experience in higher education include teaching and academic advising at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, coordinating an academic support program for first-year college students, and leading a professional development initia­tive for graduate teaching assistants. She grew up in Mississippi and currently lives in the Boston area with her husband and two-year-old son.
