Lisa Brown

Biography

Lisa Brown is currently an Assistant Director working in the University of Rochester's Information Technology division. She oversees Teaching and Learning System, including the Blackboard Learning Management system, other learning platforms accessed thruogh Blackboard, and AEFIS for assessment and accreditation.. In 2007, Lisa managed a project to migrate campus WebCT courses to Blackboard Learn in cooperation with the Medical Center. She also helped migrate the Simon School of Business to Blackboard in 2009. Now, the entire university uses a single LMS, Blackboard. In 2020, Lisa oversaw the migration of their Blackboard system to the cloud, moving to the SaaS Blackboard platform. Lisa managed the Educational Technology Center from 1999 to 2012, which supported faculty course web initiatives for Arts, Sciences and Engineering, course management, development and support for Arts, Sciences and Engineering departmental web sites, and creation of general multimedia projects throughout the University community. Additional responsibilities at UR include oversight of the ResNet program from 1996-1999 at the University. She also worked as a consultant at the University from 1991-1994 for PC desktop applications and SAS programming. Lisa holds an MS degree in Instructional Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and an Advanced Certificate in Online Teaching and an EdD in Higher Education Leadership from the Warner School of Education at the University of Rochester.
