Biography

Melissa Comer, a professor in the College of Education & Human Scienes  at Tennessee Tech University, teaches graduate and undergraduate literacy related courses in traditional and online environments. Professional activities include presentations at local, state, regional, national, and international levels as well as publications of conference proceedings, scholarly articles, book chapters, and educational case studies.  Current research interests include teaching and learning with technology and looping as an educational practice as well as investigating the role place-based education plays in instruction, especially within the region of Appalachia.  Beyond this, she enjoys applying reflective research principles and storytelling to her pedagogy and methodology.
