Biography
Earl Juelg is a senior IT and transformation leader with nearly 30 years of experience in higher education technology. His work centers on enterprise IT operations, service management, digital platforms, and organizational change within large, complex institutions.
Throughout his career, Butch has worked across technology organizations responsible for mission-critical infrastructure, customer-facing systems, and enterprise service delivery. He is known for helping institutions stabilize operations, modernize service models, and align technology with institutional mission while maintaining reliability at scale. His experience spans IT operations, service governance, digital experience platforms, and the practical application of emerging technologies.
A consistent focus of Butch’s work has been developing people and supporting organizational change alongside technology initiatives. He has partnered closely with institutional leaders, change practitioners, and operational teams to embed change management practices into IT transformations, helping teams move from reactive, ticket-driven models to experience-focused service organizations. His approach emphasizes coaching leaders, strengthening teams, clarifying accountability, and supporting sustainable adoption rather than one-time change efforts.
More recently, his work has included pragmatic AI adoption, embedding AI-enabled workflows into operational environments with an emphasis on governance, ethics, and workforce adoption.
Butch is particularly interested in the intersection of IT operations, organizational design, people development, and customer experience in higher education. He values peer collaboration and shared learning and regularly engages with leaders across institutions to explore how technology organizations can evolve in ways that are sustainable, human-centered, and mission-aligned.
