Michael G. Abelaj is the Director of the Project Management Office at Barnard College. The PMO is a brand new office at BCIT (Barnard College Information Technology) and Michael's responsibility since the summer of 2012 has been to define, develop, and implement the policies and procedures, governance model, and framework of the Project Management Office.
Over the past 10 years, Michael has performed in a wide variety of leadership roles across different verticals. Cross-industry experience includes consumer health, healthcare IT, and currently higher-education. Michael'ÃƒÂ‚Ã‚Â™s passion is to leverage the intersection of business and technology to deliver highly successful projects, strategies, capabilities, and services.
Michael is PMP certified, Six Sigma Black Belt certified (which is more about quality control then fighting), has a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Business Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and an MBA in Technology Management from Stevens Institute of Technology.
Michael is an adventure seeker during his free time. He is a certified scuba diver, marathoner, hiker, camper, sky diver, and world traveler; traveling to over 25 countries.
