Mike Conlon

Biography

Dr. Conlon is Director of Data Infrastructure for the University of Florida. His responsibilities include implementation of enterprise resource planning systems, strategic planning for information resources, oversight and coordination of enterprise data systems integration in support of the teaching, research and outreach missions of the university. Previously Dr. Conlon was Chief Information Officer of the University of Florida Health Science Center where he directed data and video services, desktop support, media and graphics, application development, teaching support, strategic planning and distance learning.

Dr. Conlon is also Research Associate Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Florida and co-principal investigator of INVEST - the International Verapamil/Trandolapril Study, a randomized trial of 22,000 patients at 860 sites in fourteen countries. The trial is conducted entirely on-line using Internet-based software designed and developed by a team under Dr. Conlon's direction. The software approach has been patented and licensed to MarCon Global Data Solutions, a company he co-founded along with Dr. Ronald Marks.

He earned his Ph.D. degree in Statistics from the University of Florida and undergraduate degrees from Bucknell University.

Dr. Conlon has been a principal investigator and co-investigator on numerous federally funded studies and is the author or co-author of over 100 scholarly publications and presentations. He has led numerous web development teams and was the founding editor of the web site for the American Statistical Association. His current interests include enterprise data systems, software architecture, web-based clinical research, computing administration and organizational issues in adoption of information technology.
