BiographyMike McPherson currently serves as associate vice president for IT initiatives at the University of Virginia; he also served as deputy chief information officer from July 2006 until June 2013. Prior to his time at UVa, Mr. McPherson served in a variety of other information technology leadership roles in higher education, including Director of Information Technology for the College of Literature, Science, & the Arts, University of Michigan; Special Counselor to the Provost, University of Michigan; and Interim President and CEO of Merit Network, Inc., in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the nation'ÃƒÂ‚Ã‚Â™s longest-running regional research and education network. Mr. McPherson received a B.A. in Multidisciplinary Humanities (Physics, History of Art, Theatre) from Michigan State University. He is active in a number of higher education information technology organizations and collaborations.
