Biography
Micki Jernigan, Sr. VP Privacy and Compliance, has over 23 years of experience as a Chief Privacy Officer and Compliance leader in the healthcare and higher education industries. Her expertise includes HIPAA, HITECH, FERPA, GDPR, FTC, GLBA, state privacy and security laws, and data governance. Micki has overseen thousands of privacy incident investigations, multiple HIPAA hybrid entity assessments and remediation, worked with the DHHS Office of Civil Rights to address complaints and breaches, designed and revised privacy programs, drafted and negotiated privacy provisions in vendor contracts, MOUs, and Business Associate Agreements. As a former privacy and compliance officer at R1 and R2 universities, Micki has direct experience with the intersection of FERPA and HIPAA. Her certifications include Certification in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC), Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), and a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP). Micki is currently leading the CompliancePro efforts overseeing the privacy and compliance lines of business. She is a frequent speaker at national and regional conferences. Micki holds a JD and Master of Public Health and BS in healthcare administration.
