Mike has 30 years experience in the ICT industry across the banking, retail, Local Government and education sectors.
As Director of Information Technology Services, Mike is responsible for the effective and efficient provision of Information Technology services to the University and for providing professional, strategic and administrative leadership in the areas of strategy, policy and innovation in the use of ICT to support teaching, research and administration.
Mike is a past national President and a Fellow of the Institute of IT Professionals (www.iitp.org.nz). He is also a Past President and Life Member of the Association of Local Government Information Management (ALGIM) (www.algim.org.nz) and in 2002 was awarded ALGIMs Industry Leadership Excellence Award. Mike also was a Director of NZ Local Government Online Ltd (www.localgovt.co.nz) from its formation in 1997 until he left the Local Government sector in 2005. Since 1998 Mike has served on the Executive of the NZ International Science Festival (www.scifest.org.nz), served as President 2007-2012, and in 2014 was awarded Life Membership. He is also a founding trustee of the Digital Community Trust (http://www.digitaloffice.co.nz) set up to lead the initiatives identified in the digital strategy for the City of Dunedin, New Zealand.
