Nathan Sorensen
Biography
Nathan Sorensen, MBA, RDN, is Senior Director of Government Contracts at the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC), one of four statutorily created interstate compacts that convene states to collaborate on shared higher education priorities. He provides vision and leadership for MHEC’s cooperative procurement portfolio, which over the last decade has enabled more than $5.3 billion in technology investments across K–12, higher education, government, and nonprofit organizations.
Through MHEC’s convening power, Nathan works with commissioners, CIOs, and procurement leaders from 12 member states to design multi-state IT agreements that balance fiscal stewardship, compliance, and innovation. By partnering nationally with NEBHE, SREB, and WICHE, he extends these benefits across the U.S., ensuring broad access to transformative, future-ready technology solutions.
He is recognized for facilitating coalitions that turn stakeholder diversity into shared strategy, using data-driven insights and ethical contracting principles to create sustainable impact. Nathan brings a unique perspective that combines business administration, systems leadership, and public procurement expertise, applying a holistic, people-centered lens to higher education modernization and transformation.
