Nigel Sharp
Biography
Nigel Sharp is the Program Director for the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope project, in the Division of Astronomical Sciences (AST) in the Directorate for Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MPS) of the National Science Foundation (NSF). He is working LSST through the process of federal funding for major projects. He has some additional programmatic responsibilities, too minor to mention. After three degrees in physics, mathematics, and astrophysics at the University of Cambridge (the real one), Nigel moved to Texas and had a varied career in astronomy theory and observation, including instrumentation and telescope management. His service work has included supercomputer access and numerical methods consulting, and systems management, networking and security at an NSF FFRDC. After all that, it made sense to join NSF and work on the federal funding of science.EDUCAUSE Presentations
