Orlando Leon

Biography

Orlando Leon most recently served as the inaugural Chief Information Officer for Fresno State in California. Through building partnerships, trust, and organizational development, he was able to advocate and elevate the role to be the first Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer during his 6-year tenure. He was born and raised in San Francisco, California and attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he received degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Management Science, and Computer Science and Engineering. Orlando has over 20 years of experience in the information technology field with 17 years in higher education.  He has held roles of increasing responsibility and leadership at Hewlett Packard, Oracle, UC San Francisco, and Stanford, prior to his role at Fresno State. Orlando will start the next season of his career as the CIO at East Bay Municipal Utility District to support critical infrastructure and public health in the world of water and wastewater management. In both personal and professional time, Orlando proactively seeks opportunities to champion efforts to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging in the world around him.  


Orlando is married to his wife, Rebecca, and has a 11 year old life-loving boy. He enjoys cooking, baking, photography, volleyball, nature, cars, all things electronics, and deep conversations about life.
