Pamela Riesmeyer

Biography

Pamela Riesmeyer is a consultant and Web Developer, specializing in the accessibility of  electronic information & technology. She intends to return to work in higher education, upon completion of a sabbatical.

Pamela served for seven (7) years as Web Accessibility Coordinator for Purdue University Calumet and then Purdue University Northwest in Hammond and Westville, Indiana.

She came to higher education from communications, earning her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism. She worked for two decades as a radio news anchor in Boston and Chicago, before embarking on her second career in Web development.

Her job as Coordinator allowed her to combine her life-long passion for learning and for teaching, with her interest and expertise in Web Standards, User Experience and digital accessibility. She was responsible for educating web content editors as well as faculty and staff about Web accessibility, and teaching them techniques and best practices to ensure that their documents and Web pages are available to everyone.

She is a 2014 winner of the Purdue University Focus Award, given to those who have made an outstanding contribution in furtherance of the university's commitment to disability accessibility and disability diversity initiatives.
