Patricia Oyler

Biography

Dr. Patricia G. Oyler is a Professor of Library and Information Science at Simmons College, Graduate School of Library and Information Science, Boston, MA. Her teaching areas are basic, advanced, and non-print media cataloging and classification, technical services, preservation management, automated systems, international librarianship, and management. She has work experience in public libraries, Swedish special libraries and the Royal Library of Sweden. She has been Senior Fulbright lecturer in Brazil, United States Information Agency lecturer in India, recipient of the Swedish Bicentennial Grant for research in Swedish library automation, and lecturer and consultant in Vietnam and Thailand. Under the direction of Professor Oyler, Simmons College has received a number of grants to provide masters-level training for librarians from Vietnam, as the country works to build its information technology infrastructure in a rapidly growing global economy. She has her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Business Administration from the School of Management, Simmons College, Boston.
