Peggy Akridge
Biography
Peggy serves as the Director of IT Vendor Management at the University of Kentucky, bringing more than 40 years of dedicated service to the institution. Throughout her career, she has held numerous roles supporting students and supporting Information Technology at the university.
She began her journey assisting students and faculty as they worked on a miniframe system accessed through dumb terminals. As technology evolved, so did her responsibilities. Peggy later led the Student Computing Services department, which operated computer labs and computer classrooms across campus. Under her leadership, a team of full-time employees and approximately 100 student employees supported over 1,200 computers across more than 20 computer labs and multiple hands on computer classrooms. She also managed the university’s student “pay‑for‑print/self‑serve copier” program, which ultimately transitioned into the campus‑wide Managed Print Services contract.
Peggy has contributed to the IT Project Management Office and holds both PMP and CSM certifications. A proud UK alumna, she earned her BS in Computer Science from the University of Kentucky, where she also worked as a student employee in IT—marking the beginning of a long career with the university.
