Phil Smith is the Senior Director of the Texas Tech High Performance Computing Center. In this capacity he and his staff manage the HPC resources that support computational research at Texas Tech University. Recent projects include TIGRE, the Texas Internet Grid for Research and Education. This project is a collaboration including Universtiy of Texas, Texas A&M, Rice University, and the University of Houston. Phil completed his Ph. D. in mathematics at Purdue University and is a professor in the Mathematics and Statistics department at Texas Tech, where he teaches parallel programming.
