Phil Youngblood

Biography

Phil Youngblood is Assistant Professor of Information Systems and Program Coordinator for the Computer Information Systems (CIS) Program, which he founded five years ago at the University of the Incarnate Word, and is the primary instructor for the program's courses. He became interested in different modes of distance education during his doctoral work at Nova Southeastern University, which included various Web-based technologies to connect the program's international population, and as Acting Director of the Fredericksburg, Texas, branch campus of Texas Tech University, where he taught courses via instructional videoconferencing (IVC). He is currently experimenting with co-teaching a scheduled course for credit in the "Second Life" multi-user virtual environment with instructors from DePaul University (Chicago, Illinois), the Universite Catholique (Lille, France) and Universidad de Monterrey (Monterrey, Mexico) as a way to connect instructors and students in multiple disciplines and cultures.
