Phillip Barak

Biography

Phillip Barak is the recipient of a 1999 Educause Medal, based on web-based instruction since 1996 and web-based molecular visualization in the Virtual Museum of Minerals and Molecules since 1998. Other projects include a distributed (two-site) course on soil mineralogy (2000), a DE course on soils and environmental quality (2005, 2009, 2010), and research on the impact of dimensionality of visualization on learning under the auspices of the Wisconsin Teaching Scholar program (2006/7). Chair of the UW-Madison IT Committee (shared governance, 2006-10) and IT Director of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, UW-Madison (2010-2017), and professor of soil science. A 1988 PhD recipient from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
