Biography

I am a highly accomplished digital learning professional with expertise in instructional strategies and professional development solutions. I have a proven ability to design and implement new approaches and lasting solutions to academic technology initiatives, with a focus on pedagogy and applied effective practices. I have been working in the field of higher education since 1997 -- planning, designing, developing, and delivering courses, programs, and faculty development initiatives. I regularly embrace opportunities to experiment with emerging technologies in order to best serve faculty and students, and to create communities of lifelong learners. Along with my current achievements in educational technology and online learning, I have over 18 years of experience in information visualization with special expertise in the visual representation of relational data. My work in information visualization with the Federal Reserve in the 1980s allowed for early access to Internet technologies, sparking my interest in new media design, hypertext and the integration of technology into teaching and learning. I present regularly at regional, national and international conferences on the topics of faculty development, technology innovation, instructional design, information design, experience design, social media, information visualization and GIS technologies. I also teach Digital Storytelling for SUNY Poly. My current research focuses on the use of social media and visualization technologies to establish community and visual presence. I am an Adobe Education Leader, STC Fellow, avid angler, aviation enthusiast, and currently training to be a private pilot.
