Biography

Rachel Goc, PhD, is a Learning Engineer in Teaching & Learning Technologies at Northwestern University. Her role includes supporting faculty in using the Learning Management System (Canvas) and other technology tools and partnering with faculty in instructional design projects. She completed her PhD in Ethnomusicology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was awarded a Fulbright IIE Dissertation Fellowship to complete research in Japan. Her academic research interests, higher education teaching experience, and IT support experience have dovetailed into a simple educational technology philosophy; that appropriate use of technology can bring us out of abstract and wishful thinking about best instructional practices and into real-world applications and student successes.
